Facebook says it
will expand its presence in the UK with 50% in 2017, joining the US technology
company Google, to increase investment in the UK, despite the vote to leave the
European Union.
The social
network says it will employ 500 people, adding a thousand of such work in the
UK, as plans to open a new office in London next year.
Before Brexit
referendum in June, pro companies stay in the country warned that a number of
international companies will reduce their presence if Britain withdrew from the
EU, making a less attractive place for investment, Reuters reports.
Facebook on
Monday but said that is not the case. "The UK remains one of the best
places to be a technology company, and is an important part of the history of
Facebook," said the vice The company's president for Europe, Middle East
and Africa, Nicola Mendelhson a conference.
Expansion of
Facebook comes after Google said earlier Alphabet company that would invest in
thousands of extra engineers as part of its movement in a new building in
London.
